BabyQuip and Babies Getaway are both baby gear rental companies whose aim is to make traveling easier for families with children. While they have quite a few similarities, there are also some notable differences that parents may want to avoid. Below we break down how BabyQuip vs. Babies Getaway compare to one another so that you can make the best choice in picking a baby gear rental service.
Company Background Information
BabyQuip is on a mission to help make traveling with babies easier. With more than 1000 Quality Providers in 900+ locations across the US, Canada, and beyond, BabyQuip makes it simple to rent baby gear and get it delivered to hotels, Airbnbs, vacation rentals, and private residences. Believe it or not, BabyQuip has already served over 100,000 happy traveling families!
BabyQuip is a marketplace business similar to Vrbo or Rover. They were featured on Shark Tank in March of 2020 and are members of the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA). BabyQuip is led by serial entrepreneur, Fran Maier, who was also co-founder and first General Manager of the dating site Match!
Babies Getaway began by selling baby equipment to customers. Soon enough, the company transitioned to renting baby equipment out of New Jersey and eventually expanded.
Baby Equipment Offered
BabyQuip offers thousands of useful baby equipment for rent. Among the thousands of items available, the top five most rented items are full-size cribs, strollers, car seats, high chairs, and toys. Quality Providers (the people renting the gear) also create convenient packages in every baby gear category that saves you money! Some examples include beach packages, sleep-tight packages, and toy packages customized to the age and preferences of the child.
Dream on Me, Graco, Baby Jogger, B.O.B Gear, Joovy, and Fisher-Price are the top rented brands across all of our rentals. Some Quality Providers carry mainstream brands, like those listed above, that appeal to the masses, while others carry premium brands like UppaBaby, Nuna, 4moms, BabyBjorn, Clek, and more.
Babies Getaway offers a variety of baby equipment like cribs, car seats, strollers, high chairs, toys, and more. They also rent out a selection of “premium” baby equipment—gear from well-known brands such as UPPAbaby, Baby Jogger, and more. Seasonal items are available for families who plan to hike, travel to the beach, or take a trip during the winter.
Standards of Cleanliness
BabyQuip has strict cleaning standards and assures that every baby gear item is properly cleaned between rentals. We understand that babies’ immune systems are still developing and that you, as parents or grandparents, rightfully expect clean, sanitized products. Because of our commitment to providing spotlessly clean and safe rentals, families have come to love and trust our service. In fact, 99% of our customers said the gear they rented was spotless or very clean!
Before being allowed to rent items, Quality Providers are required to pass a background check, take extensive training, and pass quizzes regarding baby gear safety and cleanliness. After every rental, baby gear is inspected and deep cleaned. Before renting the item out again, it is lightly cleaned and inspected again before it’s in the hands of the next customer. Quality Providers (QPs) use non-toxic and/or baby-safe cleaning products on all items.
Babies Getaway ensures all baby gear is cleaned before being rented out. Fabrics and sheets are steam cleaned with organic cleaner. Equipment is inspected before it is delivered.
How It Works
BabyQuip’s website is beautiful and easy to use. And booking a reservation is super simple with their three-step process:
- Plan. Enter your destination and travel dates. Provide a specific address for more detailed and accurate results.
- Browse. Search for specific gear and choose a Quality Provider. You can rent individual items or choose from convenient packages.
- Checkout. Add items to the cart and checkout! Your Quality Provider will contact you to review everything and answer any questions.
The minimum rental period is 3 days, but most QPs will graciously offer single-day rentals if they can make it work within their schedule. Contactless delivery is also available.
BabyQuip is the only baby gear rental company that carries a $1,000,000 liability insurance policy covering the entire rental experience. This is an important differentiator between BabyQuip and other baby gear rental companies and is provided on all our rentals.
Babies Getaway has a similar online shopping experience to BabyQuip. Once you’ve confirmed your location, dates, and baby gear that you’d like, the order is finalized. Babies Getaway confirms all orders within 2 days of being placed. There is a 3-day minimum rental period.
Note: Neither BabyQuip nor Babies Getaway will install car seats. If you need help installing a car seat, we recommend reaching out to Tot Squad for assistance!

Pricing
BabyQuip rents a basic high chair in Los Angeles, CA (for example) for $10 per day. There is a 3-day minimum, but a 10% discount is automatically applied at checkout for rentals lasting 10 or more days. They also offer monthly discounts. There’s a service fee added to each reservation and a delivery fee that depends on travel time, same-day delivery, etc. Most QPs offer free local pickup if you want to avoid the delivery fee.
Babies Getaway rents a high chair in Los Angeles, CA, for $9 per day. The cost is for a basic and simple highchair, and prices are higher for high chairs with more features. There is a delivery and pickup fee. In this case, it is $40.00 to deliver and pick up in Los Angeles. There is no option to pick up or drop off locally to avoid the delivery fee.
The Extras
BabyQuip is growing quickly and branching out into different offerings. The newest addition to the company is BabyQuip Cleaning! It’s an easy extension as Quality Providers are already cleaning their own rental gear every day. In order to clean baby gear, QPs must complete thorough training to become certified cleaning experts.
Do you have a dirty stroller or car seat that you don’t want to clean yourself? Pick up and drop off are both offered to make it convenient for your schedule. If you can’t live without your item in the 48 hours it takes to turn around an item, you can rent the item from the QP! They’ve literally thought of everything!
Each cleaner is trained to use a “3 P’s” method when cleaning the baby equipment: Products (use non-toxic baby-safe products), Process (clean thoroughly), and Proficiency (be knowledgeable about baby gear and cleaning it).
Depending on your needs, there are four packages to choose from offering more or less cleaning. For specific details on how car seats are cleaned, click HERE. There are strict guidelines to follow!
Babies Getaway is also able to deliver baby equipment to airports. So if you need baby gear as soon as you land, Babies Getaway will be there.
Summary of BabyQuip vs. Babies Getaway
