Traveling with babies may seem like a daunting, troublesome, stress-induced obstacle course. And yes, it can be a bit overwhelming at times. But, we’ve compiled a list of reasons why traveling with babies is actually quite awesome and much easier than you may think! In fact, babies make the best travel companions (yep, we said it!) and we hope this list encourages you pack light, travel happy AND bring baby!
1. People love babies!
Who doesn’t love baby feet and baby giggles? Traveling with babies means you’ll inevitably get lots of positive attention, random acts of kindness, and helpful hands throughout your travels. You’ll most definitely stumble upon a sweet grandparent who would happily entertain your pint-sized travel companion while you prepare a bottle.
2. Free flyin’
Babies fly free under two as long as they sit on a lap. Yay for free things! Once the plane has been fully boarded, keep your eagle eyes open for an unclaimed seat. Ask the flight attendant if you can switch seats to allow for more freedom while in the air. You may not even have to ask; flight attendants usually offer an empty row to a baby if they can.
3. More free things!
Babies typically get free entry to museums, events, concerts, shows, etc. That means you can do all sorts of touristy things with baby in tow and only pay for yourself and other adults!
4. Priority Boarding
AKA, you get to board first and can pretend you’re first class. When your travel companion is a baby, you get “priority boarding” and board the plane BEFORE first class. Fancy, huh? This extra time is a great way to get settled, get everything you need from the diaper bag and bond with flight attendants.
5. Babies are travel sized like your travel sized toothpaste.
Babies are travel sized! They are tiny, mini, pocket-sized little humans who look absolutely adorable when traveling and adventuring the world. They don’t take up a lot of space, provide hours of entertainment, and lots of cuddles.
6. Babies force you to slow down and live in the moment.
Babies live in the moment; they have a keen sense of wonder and curiosity which will force you to slow down and explore with them when you’re traveling. It’s an amazing thing to see the world with little minds that are so eager to adventure and learn!
7. Babies sleep A LOT.
Babies sleep ALL THE TIME. So why not travel while they sleep? Cruise through a museum with a sleeping baby in your front pack and a latte in your hand. Take the train during nap time to your next destination. Put your tired travel companion in the stroller and enjoy a local park near your hotel or Airbnb.
8. You can bring food everywhere!
You can bring food with you everywhere. You’ll tell security and TSA that it’s for your baby, but really, it’s for you.

9. Breastfeeding saves $
Babies who breastfeed can eat on the go while traveling and save you $$$. You can feed baby anywhere, anytime. Check out Mamava and Pumpspotting for breastfeeding/pumping friendly locations while you’re traveling.
10. Create life-long travel companions.
The sooner babies start traveling and the more often they travel, the better they’ll be at it in the future. Train them and teach them now! That way, you’ll create a life-long travel buddy who is adaptable, curious, and adventurous!
11. Create priceless memories.
Traveling with baby takes you out of the day-to-day, hustle and bustle of work and life. Travel gives you the gift of time so you can be present as a parent and bond as a family, ultimately making priceless memories.
